JAM REPORT – CIOCCOLATA FOUNDATION II – 1 MAY 2010 (Brescia/Italy)

May 05 2010

The Bboyspot team could not miss out one of the dopest jams in Italy called Cioccolata Foundation II that took place as the part of the traditional Italian festival, in a beautiful north part of azzura country near Brescia, Italy. The most attractive was the 3 on 3 battles, but the audience could also enjoy the kids battles in 1 on 1 and 2 on 2 competitions. We must say that little Italians got mad skills and after a few years they may represent their country on a top level. Absolutely biggest and baddest among kids were bboy Emil Power and b-girl Alessandra (winners of 2 on 2 kids battles), whose combination of amazing power moves, with style, and musicality was getting the crowd hype during the whole jam.

In the main 3 on 3 competition, around 40 crews showed their skills in demo battles. Crews were primarily from Italy, but there were also some international crews including Swiss, Slovak, Spanish, and Belgium bboys.  The judges (Mr. Keyz, Meen 187 and Yayo) chose the best 15 crews from prelims and 1 crew (bboy Eddy Twister – SuperElastikBboyPlastik Italy, bboy Nagasaki SuperElastikBboyPlastik Italy and Miniboj Killa – Hasta La Muerte Slovakia) was awarded with the direct spot at top 16, since they had an exhibition battle against the judges that you can see below:

Top 16 and top 8 battles were hype resulting in semifinales with Ormus Force (Italy) against Bandits (Italy) and One Peace Crew (Belgium) against SuperElastikBboyPlastik (Italy).

The spots in the finale battle were taken by the Bandits (Italy) and One Peace Crew (Belgium).

The Belgians were very well prepared for this battle with many routines.  They finally took the win and won the first place with prize money of 2,000 Euros. Congrats!

Overall, the jam was dope, with good cyphers, dope set up, and nice crowd.  We are looking forward to coming again next year!

Peace,

UNBREAKABLE 2010

Mar 26 2010

UNBREAKABLE 2010

The Bboy Spot Europe recently attended this jam and here is our short report on how everything went.  The event took place in Leuven, Belgium on March 20th, 2010.  There may have been over 1000 attendees at the jam, making it probably the biggest bboy event in Belgium.  Besides the major and most attractive 1 on 1 Unbreakable World Championship that took in the evening, there were a number of other competitions during the day such as 1 on 1 Bgirl battles, Kids battles, Circle Princ qualification, and a Eurobattle qualification, which was taken by Rugged Solutions from the Netherlands.  Daytime competitions were accompanied by workshops with bboyz like Thesis, Kleju, or Gracie, that concentrated on different aspects of bboying, from toprock, footwork, go downs, thru musicality, transitions, freezes, to blow-ups, and power moves.

The event took place in a sport arena with a setup stage, allowing everybody in the audience to clearly see what was going on at the battlefield.  For the evening 1 on 1 championship, the following bboyz were invited:

Thesis (USA)

Flying Buddha (Russia)

Nasty Ray (USA)

Bruce Almighty (Russia)

Kolobok (Ukraine)

Wing (Korea)

Just Do It (The Netherlands)

Gracie (Spain)

Slav (Bulgaria)

Cycu Rock (Poland)

Ardit (Germany)

Sambo (Belgium)

Ismael (France)

Diogo (Portugal)

Blanka (Denmark)

Kid Fresh (Belgium)

Judges for the 1 on 1 Championship were ATA (Ghost Crew), Storm (Battle Squad), Lamine (Vagabonds).  All the battles in the first round were hype.  Worth mentioning is a battle between Nasty Ray and Just Do It, where Just Do It took it in a very close battle.  The footage from this battle is below.

The rest of the match ups were the following (underlined = victory):

Gracie vs. Slav

Kidfresh vs Diogo

Kolobok vs Wing

Ismael vs Ardit

Bruce vs Cycu Rock

Blanka vs Thesis

Flying Buddha vs Sambo

Winners from the first round advanced to top 8 to battle for the Unbreakable Champion, while the losers from the first round continued in a seven to smoke contest.  Diogo smoked 5 bboyz and advanced to the second seven to smoke contest where losers from the second, third, and the finals of the Unbreakable Championship ended up.

Second round match ups:

Kidfresh vs Slav

Ardit vs Wing

Thesis vs Bruce

Just Do It vs Flying Buddha

Semi-finales of the Unbreakable Championship:

Wing vs Slav

Thesis vs Just Do It

Finals of the Unbreakable Championship:

Thesis vs Wing

UNBREAKABLE CHAMPION: THESIS (Knuckle Heads, USA)

In the Breakable Championship’s seven to smoke, Flying Buddha smoked six bboyz and took the award of the Breakable Champion of UNBREAKABLE 2010.

Seven to Smoke – Part 1

Seven to Smoke – Part 2

BREAKABLE CHAMPION: FLYING BUDDHA (Top 9, Russia)

Props to Stanny and Zino for organizing this dope event. We are looking for the next year and the Unbreakable’s sixth edition.

Peace,

MG

Raw Circles International Jam

Feb 03 2010

On January 31st, 2010, The Bboy Spot Europe attended the Raw Circles International jam in Antwerpen, Belgium. The jam was organized by Jebel and Dziri from Team Shmetta, Belgium’s top crew. Besides main event, which was 3 on 3 battles, there were also kids, junior, and stand up battles. The high number and a good level of attended bboys and bgirls in kids and junior battles showed that Belgium and the Netherland have a new bboy generation coming up.

The event took place in a brand new looking youth center called Zappa, which had a lot of room for “raw circles”. Cyphers were going down all day long. Aside of the Bboy Spot stand, RMC Clothing from Belgium, and the Fluido Wear from Italy set up their booths at the jam.

The Latest in Bboy Accessories..

Jan 26 2010

Throughout the years, bboying and hip-hop itself has seen many types of products aimed at it’s culture and lifestyle. It has always been gaining interest of new and old companies alike who saw a potential to market their products to us. There are items ranging from t-shirts, head gear, shoes, movies, dvds, jewelry, toys – the list goes on. Mex recently received a product that can definitely, uhm..  come in handy one day.
