RAKIM & RA The Rugged Man talk about BIG DADDY KANE

Earlier this summer, R.A. the Rugged Man tweeted about an opportunity to work with Rakim on a song for a movie soundtrack. Since then, he’s been pretty ecstatic (who wouldn’t be?) and has been sharing parts of his conversations with Rakim. If you know R.A., you might also know he’s a devout boxing fan (Check out his two part “discussion” with Mayweather here and here). Anyways, one of R.A.’s questions to Rakim was about his… Read more

Sway & King Tech – The Anthem Feat. Eminem, Xbizit, RZA, KRS ONE and more..

In honor of King Tech and Sway following us on Twitter (@TheBboySpot follow us), I decided to feature what I feel is the illest music video ever featuring Bboys. The Anthem. I will never forget the 1st time this video came out on BET. It was revolutionary, mind blowing and life changing. I knew I wanted to break; I knew I wanted to be involved with Hiphop for the rest of my life. It’s rare… Read more

Our condolences go out to his family and friends as another legend passes on. You will be missed big homie and thanks for blessing this culture with all the great music you helped create!

The Record Connection

Last Sunday Mex and I spent the day at a record show held at the fair grounds in Orlando, Florida. Spinning at the Ground Crowns Bboy jam the night before and staying up late didn’t make waking up early for the show an easy task. With the help of Negra (Mex and Gina’s cat), I was up and ready to go looking for the perfect beat. These record shows are a good place to find… Read more

The History of Record – Making in Miami, Panel Discussion

I recently attended a very interesting panel discussion featuring some of Florida’s music history figures. The panel was held at the Miami Art Museum as part of a series discussing South Florida music throughout the years and is part of related programs to the current featured gallery, “The Record”. On the Panel were Henry Stone (record label owner and producer), Willie J. Clarke (song writer, musician), Jeff Lemlich (author and record collector of Florida music)… Read more

Day of Digging: B.T. Express

Over the weekend the Spen, Bunz and myself went to a local record shop in Orlando, FL called Rock and Roll Heaven to see if we could find any good records. While digging, you can find records from James Brown, Sly and the Family Stone, Jimmy Castor and many many great artists but on this occasion one record stood out—B.T. EXPRESS: DO IT (‘TIL YOU’RE SATISFIED). This is a great track, very smooth, very mellow,… Read more

Grab FUSIK’s 2 new songs on this funky 45

If you don’t know who FUSIK is by now then it might be time to move out from under that rock you’ve been living under for the past 7 years. Fusik is a widely known funk band that rose from within the Bboy community and has been rocking stages all over the globe. If you haven’t witnessed their floor-shaking performances then maybe it’s time to hit up their next gig. Our good friend Felix, the… Read more
