Community First: Inspiration in Palestine

If you follow Teknyc on his blog or twitter, than you may have heard that he recently wrapped up an incredible tour throughout the Middle East which included stops to places such as Egypt, Israel, and Palestine. The tour was done alongside Rennie Harris Puremovement for their cultural exchange program through the U.S Embassy, in collaboration with BAM and Dance Motion USA.

While in Nablus, Palestine, Tecnyc had the opportunity to connect with Tomorrows Youth Organization, a non profit which “enables children, youth, and parents in disadvantaged areas of the Middle East to realize their potential as healthy, active and responsible family and community members.” Through Tomorrows Youth, Tec was able to spend his time there teaching a group of young Palestinian kids. Check out the clip below to get a glimpse of his very inspiring visit to the region of Palestine:

Today i spent all day in Nablus,Palestine teaching a group of Palestinian kids.  Words do no justice to how sad the situation of this divided country is.  I am glad i’m having the opportunity to share with these kids and be inspired by their drive to learn something they really love regardless of the circumstances they face day to day.

I heard some testimonies today that would make any grown man cry his eyes out.  We in the U.S are extremely lucky and pretty much take everything for granted.

To those of you who follow my blog and read my posts, please live your lives to the fullest and enjoy every second of it.  Whatever your hardships may be know that someone somewhere would love to trade places with you. — Joel Teknyc Martinez (SkillMethodz)
