Decided to take it back to the 80’s for this one. When the “breakdance” explosion hit in the mid 80’s, everyone wanted a piece of the action. Breaking was Hip Hop’s first export to the world, and kids from every social background wanted to be the best breakers in their neighborhood. Breaking was seen in movies, TV shows, the Olympics, and the New York City Breakers even performed for the president of the United States. With break dance interest at an all time high and VHS video players becoming more affordable purchase, companies decided what better way to cash in than coming out with their own breakdancing instructional videos! The result not a very lackluster one, but needless to say they are very much great collectibles today.
Check out a news report from the 80’s and see how we were portrayed by the media. With coverage like this, no wonder it was destined to die out….haha
Alfonso Ribeiro, better know as Carlton Banks from the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, was famous for his Pepsi generation video with Michael Jackson. He was known as an avid dancer as a kid (and in the Fresh Prince sitcom) that it was a no brainer to use him as a spokes man for a breakdance kit.
Another great instructional video to have features the one and only
Vin Diesel. There’s not much to say about this one except that it sucks
and its mad funny…..haha.
NOW, LETS CHECK OUT THE GARBAGE OF TODAY……
