Red Bull presents: Parallels Breaking vs Skateboarding

This vid was brought to my attention and when I saw it, I knew I had to share it. For far too long has Breaking and skateboarding been compare, two sub cultures born around the same time in different coast. Hiphop Culture has inspired the skateboarding scene since the late 80’s. Shout outs to Kid David for being part of this great project.

While on his recent trip to Florida, Kid David teamed up with Felix (drummer of Fusik) to create something unique, something different that portraits the beauty of our dance. The result was a fusion of art and style. A MASTER PIECE. We reached out to Kid David and asked him where the idea behind the project came from: “I had always wanted to make a clip of my drumming connected to my breaking. The original concept was… Read more

Trip Down Memory Lane: Kid David 2007 Warm-Up Clip

Straight and to the point: Kid David did it first and did it better than any kid has since he broke through on the world stage in 2005-2006. Wise beyond his years, David understood that he didn’t want to be the best little kid, he wanted to be the best period and he wanted to be respected at every level. At 17, he traveled the world and back. Nothing was stopping him; David won just… Read more

Best Commercials Featuring Bboys

With so much crap being put out with “breakdancing” in it, we decided to highlight some dope commercials with Bboys or Bgirls in them. In some of the commercials we recognize the bboys, in others we don’t, so if you happen to know who they are please let us know. Hope you like what we found! Nike Bboy commercial “The Future One”– short and simple but with really great graphics. Who is the bboy? Kid David and Lil Ceng in SONY… Read more

Over the last few months I’ve been thinking a lot about BATTLE OF THE YEAR THE MOVIE, and the effects it will have on our community. I’ve been thinking about writing a series of blogs dedicated to “what might happen” after the movie is released. I have yet to see the movie, and the blogs wont be “about” the movie. My concern is not for it to win an Oscar, nor am I a movie critic, but… Read more

Choreographed by Kid David…

Want to learn how to dance like The Kid? Well…you’re going to need a lot more practice for that…haha, but in the meantime there’s always video games! Kid David was given the pleasure of working with the folks over at UbiSoft to choreograph some moves for their dance game: THE HIPHOP DANCE EXPERIENCE. Normally I’ve played games like this before and I feel just as stupid as I look when playing them, but one look at this video… Read more

BE TWN THE BRKS: Interview with Squid Rock & Kid David

So we’ve talked a lot about BE TWN THE BRKS lately, and how dope it is to have such a high quality bboy lifestyle magazine in our community. Created by Squid Rock (USC) and Kid David (Renegades), the magazine has now released  it’s third issue, which is jam packed with freshness including an exclusive interview with Easy Roc, really dope photos of freight train graffiti and the breaking scene in Africa, art by Miguel Gadoy,… Read more

As soon as Cypher Adikts LA ended, it was time to prepare for Freestyle Session 15 Year Anniversary the following day. I’ve been attending Session since it’s 8th installment in 2004, and have truly been a big supporter of my brotha Cros for the last six years, so I was not about to miss out on the “Sweet 15”. Cros always delivers with top notch venues, and having Session at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles was crazy….the… Read more
